All-Region and County as a sophomore definitely got Watson on our radar. His 6’4″ 295 lbs. frame is big, but what we like even more is the speed and urgency he shows getting to the 2nd level. Forsyth Central gets him blocking in space a good bit, and would guess that has a lot to do with his general quickness to the 2nd level but also the body control he shows once engaged. He keeps a strong lower base, has violent hands at the point of attack. Watson has been getting a lot of reps at C here in 2020 – that will definitely help get more colleges interested. I would like to see a flatter back when engaged though, and just working more on flexibility in the hips too. Definitely has some solid film against Gainesville in the early season, must have had 5 or so knockdowns. Needs to continue to work on flexibility and fundamentals, strength looks solid for his age group, at least in the upper body. Not sure FBS schools will offer right now until they see improvements in those key areas.
