What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?
I have played varsity since a freshman. I have been a starter since sophomore year. Played 4 different positions (MLB,CB,SS, OLB) and have been a starter at all 4. Senior year I played strong safety, corner and outside linebacker. I am the definition of a versatile player. My speed and toughness is what makes special. I can guard the speedy slot WR or take on the strong FB coming down to make a block. I have been a team leader since sophomore year I was even top 5 in tackles and sacks and the stats continued to get better and better every year. I knew everybody’s job on the field and that’s how I was able to switch up my position due to our opponent of the week. My position was based off the other team if they were run heavy I played in the box if they were pass heavy I played in the secondary and hawked the ball.
Gaines is a disruptive football player who will put a hat on the ball carrier. He does a great job of defending passes out to the flat. He shows pretty solid hip swivel and nice ability to change direction. Gaines is a pretty versatile football player, and couple that with his tackling ability and I think he fits well as a nickle at the next level.
