The year of the tight end continues with Delp, who ended up with 730 yards receiving and 9 touchdowns on the year, making him one of the most potent pass-catchers in all of 7-A. There was some buzz around Delp during the offseason after he competed at a MVP camp, so there was some expectations, but soon after his performance against Mays in the Corky Classic his recruitment has taken off. I think what stands out among all of the TE’s in this recruiting class is that Delp has the best speed of any of them. He is a fluid athlete with very good route running skills. Very good in short yardage and intermediate as well, He is a deceptive route runner, and no doubt the best of any TE in this class. Delp is an elite talent as a receiver. He has outstanding ball skills, and at 6’4-5″ he can catch the ball off the top of the head of a defender. Delp is the definition of a matchup problem, and an ideal pass-catching slot TE at the next level.
