Neal Howard – QB
Newton

#10 QUARTERBACK

HT: 5’11”
WT: 165
GPA: 3.5
Class: 2020
Squat: 340

Howard is about 165 lbs soaking wet it seems, but he does have a solid release point, and keeps a tight spiral with his throws. He has some legit zip to his ball, sets his feet well and shifts weight to front foot as he follows through. Howard has pretty good fundamentals, and would have to think added muscle will help with his release point. He logged some heavy varsity reps last year against some of the best defenses in the state of Georgia, and what really stands out is his ability to read a defense, and go through various progressions to find the most viable option. That sort of quick decision making is an innate skill for a QB, and why the 2020 signal caller had so much responsibility as a sophomore. He’s in a bit of a QB battle heading into this season, but I think he’s the odds on favorite to win the job. He’s only added roughly 5 lbs to his frame since last December according to his latest hudl update. He demonstrated pretty solid running last season, but that’s an area where he can make the most dramatic improvement this year.
