Middlebrooks is a quick decision making QB with solid height to see over the line of scrimmage. He has a nice natural release point but his footwork does need a good bit of work, especially on play fakes were the timing seems to get off on some plays. The senior has long arms and really good straight-line speed, making him a very effective spread option QB. Middlebrooks needs to continue to add weight to his frame – we think he can end up being around 185-195 at the next level. His senior year he made a jump as a passer and is making quicker decisions than last year. He’s reading the defense, and instead of scrambling so much, he’s checking down to receivers open on the flats. He is also running with more authority in between the tackle and doing a nice job of lowering his pads before contact. Middlebrooks has game breaking ability with both his arm or legs. He looks like a solid spread option QB at the next level and should attract interest from FCS & D2 schools.
