Reeves was All-State as a sophomore when he went over 1700 yards, and 1554 yards rushing his junior year. And would you look at that, Murphy is now over 1350 with plenty of the season still ahead. He’s added good weight over the year, and a lot closer to 200 lbs. Murphy is an explosive player with a vertical just short of 40″. The 2021 recruit hits top speed quickly. He does run a tad upright, but we are seeing a better forward lean here in 2020. He has a more angular body type, so it’s taken some time for Murphy to pack on the weight. Senior year he is definitely breaking more tackles than ever before, utilizing a stiff arm to throw defenders off and just stronger lower body to stay upright on contact. Makes quick cuts where little speed is lost – looks even faster coming out of a cut in 2020. The 2021 recruit has good vision, makes the proper cutbacks and the cutbacks he is making this year are a lot more successful with the added speed. Murphy has been a big play waiting to happen, and will finish his career with over 5000 yards rushing and over 60 touchdowns if this year’s trend continues.
