Not many specialists do you see also play basketball as well, but at 6’4″ Ball has the athletic upside that few players his age possess. He has a huge frame, and that alone catches my attention. Ball has huge upside as a kickoff specialist for that reason and with a little bit more time and training and he could really take his game to another level. Right now, his best talent is punting the ball where he gets decent hang time and solid location keeping inside the 20 and on the sidelines. There is a much better follow through with his kicking senior year, and directionally he shows more improvement even getting decent hangtime. There is still a lot of tweaking that needs to be done with Ball. He just doesn’t full extend his leg through the kick, whether that’s flexibility or fundamentals it is hard to say, but the general upside of Ball is certainly higher than most. He will probably get a PWO at the FBS level on upside alone.
