Downing has a great touch on the ball and does a good job of leading his receivers on deep passes. All of his WR’s have received college attention to some degree, and in large part it has to do with his prowess as a passer. His intermediate passing game is by far his best skill and he can just torch a defense. He has a wonderful touch on passes from 20-40 yards. Downing put on good weight this last year and really like how he moves around in the pocket avoiding the pass rush. He shows really quick feet and displays good fundamentals with his footwork. Colleges should be all over the patient rising senior with excellent academics. Another improvement he made from soph. to junior year was dropping his INTs from 10 to 3, which is close to the lowest number we have seen among +2000 yard passers in Georgia. Senior year he’s been gutsy, making tough throws in the pocket, and showing a lot more as a runner. Gets up field with urgency when running the read option. Downing is one of the most efficient players in the state of Georgia. Over the last two season he has over 4500 yards, 49 TDs and just 8 INTs. He was a two year team captain and senior year he led his squad to a 11-2 record.
