Marquez Harris – OLB
Columbia

#34 OUTSIDE LINEBACKER

HT: 6’3″
WT: 227
GPA: 2.6
Class: 2022

Harris was the county leader in sacks last year, and has seen his recruitment really go nowhere despite being one of the best defenders in one of the most talented counties in the country when it comes to that side of the football. Harris has powerful hands at the point of attack. He is pretty quick coming out his stance with above average timing. He’s able to get off blocks very quickly showing very fast hands. Harris has pretty good length at 6’3″. He is good at finishing his tackles getting the ball carrier down quickly, but fundamentals are inconsistent. Talk about a motor though! Harris will chase down the QB from all over the field to finish off the play. He has pretty good acceleration to the football, but a lot of what makes Harris good is the effort he shows on a consistent basis. Harris was a Preseason 2A All-State in 2021, and we suspect he is set for a big senior year where he could lead all of 2A in sacks. You cannot teach the effort in which Harris plays – he is literally playing at a different speed than all of his teammates.
