Malik is really fast off the ball and he uses quickness to beat the offensive lineman at the point of attack. He plays low and uses his lightening quick hands to get off blocks. He gained about 10 lbs, and really improved on his weight lifting in the last year with a 30-40 lbs increase on each lift. Astin was voted 2nd team All Region for his very productive JR season. He is a true pass-rusher, doesn’t quite have the body for it but he’s technically sounds as can be. Astin just dominated the competition his senior year and we really think he has the ability to play at the FCS level, even if just a situational pass-rush player.

Malik is an awesome talent and terror on the field……his first step and motor gives him the drive to cause consistent double teams freeing his backers up to clean up whatever is left….playing somewhat out of position at the high school level gives him the reps he needs on the field….I think he will be a DE or OLB at the college level.
