Spooner is a versatile player who projects well on the defensive side of the ball. He’s a good athlete, tested out with above average size at 6’1″ and 190 lbs. Spooner has a nice body type to play strong safety at the next level. He’s a physical presence that tackles through the ball carrier, hitting them in the numbers. The 2020 recruit uses his hands pretty well to get off blocks, definitely more physical getting off blocks his senior year. Definitely doing a better job in pass coverage as a senior. Spooner has good quickness running a sub-4.5 shuttle time and he shows a light back pedal in coverage. He played closer to the LOS at times in 2019 where he looked more comfortable playing off the edge. Like Spooner’s upside against a spread offense and teams that run 3-5-3 should definitely go after the 2020 recruit.
