Durham came into HS on the hitlist, well, the QB hitlist that ranks the top QBs across the country. There was some expectations that the 2022 QB would be a big time player after getting some snaps his sophomore year. I think what really takes our attention is his ability to lead the receiver. He’s very good at hitting the receiver in stride, and rarely do they have to wait on the football or adjust much for the pass. There are times when he is throwing on the run, it does seem like getting the ball 50 yards out while moving might be tough, but settled into the pocket he throws accurate balls. Running he has some legit rope a dope to him. He is elusive, knows how to read a defender and make plays with his feet, but still needs to be a lot more explosive to be considered more than just a savvy spread QB who can occasionally run. Durham’s agility should be a big focus during this offseason, not only will it compliment his running, but also help with him move around in the pocket. There was solid progression over the last year here from an athletic stand point. He added 15 lbs. to his frame and opened up his game so that he could be more effective running, so if he continues to progress in that direction he might open up his options even more over the next year.
