What makes you stand out as a future collegiate athlete?
What makes me stand out is the way I work to be great. In order for me to be number 1, I have to practice like I'm number 2. I have character and heart to go along with a great work ethic.
Matthews is a 3 year varsity starter at Redan. The interior lineman has an adept ability at picking up blitzes and looks rock-solid in pass coverage in general. He plays with very solid base and his low center of gravity allows him to have a strong core. He is much quicker than we expected and we saw him pickup blitzes from LB’s who run sub-4.7’s. Increased his squat by 90 pounds and his bench by 50 in the last year. He’s made progress each offseason. He’s now up to 275, improved his vertical by 10 inches since he first signed up 16 months ago. He works his butt off when he is blocking. On one play in senior film he drove a player nearly 20 yards down field and even out of bounds.
