Hartwell patrols the middle looking for big hits, and was one of Marist’s most solid defenders in 2019. He played both CB and safety in fact. Watching him against Flowery Branch live we saw the 2021 recruit really pop a few ball carriers. His big hitting ability is legit, even if he doesn’t do a good job of wrapping up and driving through his attempt – typically he has enough momentum to just knock the ball carrier way off balance. Hartwell is a physical player no doubt, and has a solid frame at 5’10” and right at 180 lbs. He is a very good fit to play NB at the next level, where his tenacious mindset would be very good playing close to the LOS. Hartwell does a very good job of getting off blocks, and should be a solid asset against the screen pass. He has strong hands at the point of attack and just a good motor to get in the right spots.
