Ross is a big hitter pure and simple, he does a great job of squaring up his pads on the ball carrier and can tee off with a big hit. He does a very good job of meeting the offensive player square in the chest. He is bone-crushing hitter when those opportunities occur, and you can bank on the 2020 athlete to finish with authority. Ross has a good feel for the game, he does a nice job of reading the pass and seems to be in the right spot more times than not. He’s not looking to break up too many passes, the big hits are great, but would like to see some film where he rakes out the ball. Ross also is an offensive player for Pepperell where his toughness get out a lot of yards after contact. Curious to see where he lines up this year in fact, Ross played all over over last year as a junior, but figures to be a SS in college. Want to see him get quicker laterally, and work on acceleration, but cannot deny his overall football instinct at reading a run play, taking good backside pursuit angles and the penchant for the big hit. There is place for Ross to play college ball, and wouldn’t be surprise to some PWO interest from bigger schools even.
