McDonald was our selection for All-State his junior year and once again he is there as a senior in the preseason. The huge running back out of Milton has broken off a lot of long runs in his career so far. Some might point to the elite OL at Milton but McDonald is also able to just bulldoze through defenders. He doesn’t have elite speed, but good quickness and in combination with his power he can rip off some big runs. McDonald is a power back all the way. he gets tough yards between the tackles, makes some defenders miss in really tight spaces and keeps his feet moving. McDonald had right at 1400 yards as a junior and we would like to see much of the same senior year and a run to the state title as well. It does seem like his recruitment has cooled a little, maybe this is a good time for colleges to jump in and recruit. McDonald has pretty good running vision and solid patience waiting for his blocks. I’m a big fan of his determination to fight for extra yardage and his pad level looks a lot better senior year too. He doesn’t have the elite speed, just good, and will get chased down more times than not in college.
