Hampton is starting to show more progress playing their opponents really close this year, and senior middle linebacker Jonathan Perry has been a major reason why. This squad is usually terrible, so colleges are not recruiting very much, so he has slipped through the cracks. The senior is an above average athlete, especially explosive in the hips. Brings the ball carrier down quickly, no extra yardage after contact. Drives legs and is emphatic with hits. Lateral quickness is extremely impressive but he doesn’t always take the best angles right now. Needs to keep his pads parallel more. Perry reads the play quickly, and does a great job of filling the gaps. Really like his frame too, shows a strong lower base, and should be able to reach 230.
