Carrera played in the Elite All Star Game 2015 & 2016. The senior keeps a flat back and drives his legs. He has active hands and does good job getting leverage on the defender. He has added about 10 pounds in the last year, and he has now been a varsity starter for 3 years. He was voted All-Region last year and his team made it far into the Class A Private playoffs. Senior year has been disappointment for his team, and they went from one of the best in Class A private to one of the worse – pretty bizarre but they lost a lot of FBS talent through graduation and transfers. Carrera comes from a football family, and has been well trained as an interior lineman. He’s very smart at sealing off defenders and opening up big hold in the middle. He is a solid athlete, shows good quickness coming out his stance, and has strong hands too. He’s also playing double-duty at defensive tackle this year as well.
