Over the last few seasons, no one has been a greater threat returning kicks than Decatur’s Jersharius Lawrence. The 2025 athlete has 1045 yards through 8 games and has made some electric plays during this campaign that illustrate his immense upside as a skill player. At 5’9″ and 170 lbs., he has really good ball skills and his consistency catch balls on special teams underscores his reliable hands. Lawrence’s versatility allows him to be lined up at receiver or running back. He is excellent at reading his blocks in the open field, a moment early in his reel where he reads a crushing block, vaults over a defender, and is gone showcases that. But also, his ability to make tight cuts with a lot of congestion breaks open a lot of these big plays. This is a major component to his success on returning kicks, but also, Lawrence just shows good top-end speed. He accelerates quickly and can burn pursuit angles. Very good at timing it too, stopping and going with a nice stutter step. Lawrence is competing against a lot of skill players across college recruiting boards, but you would be hard-pressed to find an athlete with his level of production, especially on special teams along with his level of offensive versatility.
