The Harlem 2026 athlete was a big play waiting to happen last year. With a legit frame while showing an explosive upfield burst, Futrell is an enticing athlete at first glance of his film. He has wide shoulders and long arms, so he can excel as an X at the next level while also showcasing the natural tools as a defender. That kind of versatility alone, besides his excellent athleticism, should attract D1 schools. This isn’t usually the case. Most prospects figure to shine at one spot at the next level; Futrell is a different prospect. His ability to gauge the pass, flip his hips, and attack the football is impactful on either side of the football. His length and tenacity at safety allow Futrell to rake out passes from the receiver’s hands. Given his frame, he should easily be over 200 lbs. at the next level. Very fresh weight lifting numbers for now, but he is a powerful athlete; I wouldn’t even rule out Futrell growing into an off-ball linebacker at the next level. Colleges are interested, especially after a strong MVP camp performance during the spring. He ran a top speed sprint of 21.5 MPH recently. Currently, he is one of the most underrated players in the class of 2026. Perhaps FBS colleges are still deciding the best position, and the simple answer is on your team. Figure out the details later.
