Helstone is a tough dude out there lining right in the middle of the West Forsyth defense despite being way lighter than almost anyone else in the trenches weighing at 220 lbs. This guy is a true athlete though. He is very physical at the point of attack and plays with extremely strong hands at the point of attack. Very impressed with how he handles teams with good OL. Helstone plays with controlled chaos. There is an urgency to get after the ball carrier. He’s very strong at the hips, gets a very good initial push on the OL. He’s not a defensive lineman though. Helstone has the body type you look for at linebacker. He power cleaned over 300 lbs this offseason while also adding another 10 or so lbs. Helstone is a very underrated player at the moment. I think he shows pretty good lateral quickness changing direction in pursuit of the QB in the pocket to prove that a transition to linebacker won’t be too hard. He got some reps there in 2020, but it was over 90% on the DL. Going into this season several leading tacklers at West Forsyth have graduated, so would like to see the first team All-Region defender at his more natural position.
