What Makes Me Stand Out Is My Willingness To Learn And Grow

Ponder won his region’s defensive player of the year this season after a really special season where he essentially lived in opponent’s backfield. Seems like every year there is an underrated pass-rusher at Carver, this year it is Ponder. The senior is aggressive with his hands, and has the quickness that when he slants can get right by the offensive lineman. He has a nose for the football, while also showing good patience playing the read option. The senior plays really well with his eyes. Against Flowery Branch he dominated, and exposed some solid FCS caliber offensive lineman. His quickness in hands and feet at the point of attack is something else, and we saw him make many offensive lineman completely whiff when trying to block him. I really like how quickly he reacts to the play whether it is run or pass, he is on it. With over 10 minutes of highlights, it’s fairly obvious that Ponder was on of the most productive players in 6-A this year. He has the type of frame where adding weight should be no problem either and will be well over 250 quickly when using the resources of a college program.
