Pennimon has really good length for a defensive back, and his versatility to play free safety or cornerback should absolutely attract a fair amount of schools. From a pure athlete stand point Pennimon looks to be FBS. His length and outstanding acceleration allows him to make elite breaks on passes when he is playing a deep zone – makes a few diving catches where he pulls of the INT. Pennimon has legit speed, and I think he projects really well as a CB at the next level, especially for team who runs a lot of zone on defense. His tackling is decent, doesn’t wrap up too well, and relies on momentum to get the ball carrier down. We see him make some tough tackles too at the same time – it’s a mixed bag, looks like he needs to improve his consistency. From a weight lifting perspective we would like to see him get improve on his power clean so he can be stronger in the hips.
