Smalls was one of the top producing backs in the state rushing for 1903 yards and 34 touchdowns. The compact runner plays behind his pads, gets low with contact, and drives his feet through the defenders. The urgency with which Smalls attacks the open field creates a lot of pressure on the defense. He sees a seam, and reacts quickly, hitting his top speed and doing a good job of utilizing angles to create the most yards possible. Smalls does a good job of stepping out of tackle, that is part due to his great low center of gravity but the determination and balance to stay upright. There are few backs in the state who make a defender miss in a tight space like Smalls who also hold the same caliber of toughness and physicality. The 2025 back can make a defender miss in an elevator, which credit to his timing and natural instincts to read the defender. Smalls is set for another great senior year where he will attempt another push to the state championship and a 2k-yard rushing season.
