Samples has played defensive end the last two seasons, but his senior year he is getting a lot of reps at MLB, which has been a position that we thought was the most natural for Samples for some time now. He’s always been very hard to block, and is extremely physical when making a tackle. He does a great job of hedging in the direction of the play, and his compact body stops the ball carrier dead in his tracks. Samples is a tough customer, and looks like he is on track for a good senior year. We could also see him possible playing h-back at the next level, and he is actually getting snaps there this season too.
2016 STATS: 53 tackles, 1 sack & 7 QB pressures
Samples is hybrid player. He plays defensive end because he is very quick off the ball. Players like this are hard to find these days.
