Going into the 2024 season, Hicks was one of the more intriguing prospects we wanted to monitor. At 6’7″ 250 lbs., he has the apparent frame that any D1 program would like to develop. With his midseason film now dropped, we jumped into Hicks’ film looking for progression, and he did not disappoint. Hicks looks more physical at the point of attack. He is getting out of his stance, driving his legs through the block, and showing good energy throughout the play. That was a major point of pain with his junior film, so seeing this kind of activity is huge. Just being active and hustling downfield will yield good results. Hicks is still raw, but the kick-step does look quick, and again, better than 2023. He needs to get more flexible in the hips, continue to work on agility, and improve his pad level considerably. That can be taught at the college level, but what you cannot teach is an athlete with his kind of size and relative athleticism. He should be a priority for DII programs and DI programs need to continue to watch closely because you cannot deny his upside. Hicks is one of the longest guys in the class of ’25.
