Haughawout always had an interesting frame already being 6’4″ as a freshman. He has slowly packed on the weight, and just over the last 6-8 months he is up to 265 – a nearly 35 lbs. difference. There has always been good upside for the 2022 defender. He is definitely filling out and becoming a SDE that we were hoping for, in fact getting bigger than we thought. Haughawout does a very good job of fighting off blocks and showing a pretty quick swim move coming off the edge. He is very good at playing off the edge. Shows pretty quick feet and does a very good job of playing off the read option. Love the hustle from the backside – the 2022 recruit will get out to the sideline and show above average speed. He has taken a pretty big jump in the last year from sophomore to junior year. Hard to not like the frame and motor of the 2022 recruit. Hands are very strong at the point of attack, at the summer camps we have seen the 2022 DL has looked strong, and the added quickness is going to make him a terror this fall. I think the Haughawout is turning out to be one of the bigger sleepers in this class. The truth is that the 2022 recruit is still filling out his frame, he has a thick lower body, and should be a lot closer to 300 lbs by the time he is ready to play in college.
