Briceno was a highly productive junior with solid film, so going into his senior year, we thought the Chamblee defender would be set for a good year. The hard-hitting senior does a nice job of gauging his tackle attempts and will unload some impactful tackles in space. Briceno uses that same physicality to break up passes over the middle of the field. He is adept at getting his hands inside the receiver, timing the contact when the ball arrives to loosen up the ball consistently. Briceno is a fundamentally sound player who is solid in coverage, getting good depth, and reads the QB’s eyes well enough. Against the run, he does a good job of reading his keys, and keeping his pads parallel to the LOS when making a tackle. Drops hips and drives legs through the attempt, but would like to see him be more consistent wrapping up. The shoulder checks work until they don’t, and at the college, it will be less effective. Briceno is an impactful player who has multiple years of quality film now. At 5’11” and 185 lbs., we think Briceno can continue to gain weight, get to around 205 lbs. at the next level, and be an effective run-stopping strong safety.
