Just like his brother, Darnell will sell out for the football and sprawl his body across the turf to make a catch. He was more of a slot receiver in Rockdale’s offense last year. Stephens operates well at that position, and uses good footwork and head fakes to get open. He does a nice job running seam passes and finding the hole in the zone defense. You can tell Stephens is a 7v7 athlete with how he finds holes in the defense. Darnell is a quality receiver he does a nice job of settling into his routes and picks up 5-10 yards consistently on film. Wanted to see him be more elusive after the catch his senior year, and there are a few plays where he catches the ball from intermediate range but then makes an explosive play after gaining big chunks of yardage.
