Barnes compiled 40 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 4 sacks in just 5 games his junior year. The 6’1″ 220 lbs. linebacker is explosive in the hips and does a very good job of reacting to the play. He covers some serious ground and just explodes through the ball carrier. Barnes has legit acceleration that you look for in an FBS linebacker. Barnes hits very hard but could stand to work on his fundamentals and try to drive through his legs. Still shows very good hip strength and general explosiveness, he would be a legit threat to blitz off the edge. Cannot deny the energy and hustle that Barnes plays the game with. He is just full-throttle on the field. Barnes is a stout physical presence on the field, showing strong hands getting off blocks and hitting with authority. Lateral quickness does still need some additional work, but do like the acceleration to the football, where Barnes looks improved from 2019.
