One of the tallest prospect in this class and perhaps the biggest sleeper at tight end in the state is Appleby. Not sure how he has gone completely under the radar, but the 2021 recruit has legit upside, just watch his first play of his reel and you should be sold by his potential. Appleby will surely be used more in the passing game. Right now, he mostly run blocked, and that is definitely an area he needs to continue to improve. Hand placement is not good and he doesn’t get very good leverage. Appleby has to be tougher at the point of attack. West Laurens needs to split him out more to take advantage of his size, but seems like their seniors absorbed most of the passing offense in 2019. Look for the 2021 recruit to have much different film in 2020, and to really breakout as one of the top TE’s in the state. Good weight lifting improvements and now up to 245 – a 20 lbs. increase.
