Lawson is one of the best all-around athletes in the state of Georgia and earned himself All-State honors in Class A. He threw for over 2000 yards as a junior and also had over 1500 yards rushing as well. Lawson is a true athlete but he needs to shore up a few fundamental issues. Getting on the track team could really benefit his top end speed and help fine tune his running stride. I like Lawson’s balance a lot, and he has a nice forward pad lean. The 2019 recruit has a real feel at playing the game, he can read a defender and shake them out of their shoes. Very quick football player, and deceptive. Arm strength is pretty solid for a dual threat, but his release point is low and it’s more 3/4. Throws the ball off balances for no reason. I think some options teams might be interested in Lawson as a QB but by and large I bet he will be recruited as a FS and WR.
