Long is more of a hybrid OLB/SS recruit who goes full bore on the field and hits with authority. If there is one thing to takeaway from watching the 2022 recruits film is that he hits hard. The intense 2022 athlete doesn’t let down, and just runs straight through the ball carrier but he also shows good fundamentals as a tackler too. He gets very low. Does a great job of beating the ball carrier and striking. Long has solid agility, enough to play decent coverage against the pass while also sliding around blockers. He doesn’t have outstanding top end speed, but the 2022 recruit plays with a serious motor. Long needs to get quicker in the hips and continue to work on lateral quickness to be more effective against the pass. At 6’1″ and just 195 lbs. long really has to be more fluid changing directions in coverage, but as pure tackler the 2022 recruit looks to be one of the better players in his recruiting class.
