Player Spotlight: Salem Running Back Luquan Williams

Luquan Williams, a longtime Recruit Georgia follower, won our 2/19 Play of the Day. The lightening fast back, squirted through a hole, then preceded to pull off a whirling dervish, and was off to the races. An impressive run, and well deserving of our Play of the Day.

Luquan WilliamsWe spoke with Williams shortly about his recruitment and offseason plans. The class of 18 back is going to keep it local with his camp visits. “I am planning to go to the Georgia State, Georgia Southern and Mercer camps.”

Williams has outstanding speed and told us that is his biggest strength. It was no surprise to learn afterwards that his favorite player is NFL speed merchant “David Wilson of the New York Giants.”

Currently no schools have contacted Williams, but it is still very early in the process for the class of 18 back. Two areas of improvement for Williams are to boost his strength and ability to read defensive schemes.

Williams received a ton of carries for his varsity squad last season and is a strong shifty back with enough wiggle to make defenders miss. Has a good blend of speed, quickness and power. His straight line speed could be used effectively on kickoffs or in the screen game.

It is still very early in the process for Williams, and a lot will change, so keep checking Recruit Georgia as we follow athletes as they go through the college football recruiting process.
