Southeast Bulloch’s Aaden Peterson has been busy this offseason. The 4.0 GPA student-athlete is a standout on the basketball team, scoring a season high 27 in late February, and has already broken his personal record on the broad jump.
“So far, my offseason has gone pretty well. I have been working consistently on and off the field. I’m getting bigger, faster, and stronger while also doing well in my classes by maintaining a 4.0 GPA,” Peterson said.
“I’m currently at the beginning of my track season. In my season opener, I placed first in the triple jump with a personal best of 45.9 feet. With that, I am one of the top triple jumpers in the state.”
The explosive All-State honorable mention defensive back power cleaned 295 lbs. recently and looks like 300 lbs. is within reach. No doubt, the 2027 defensive back prospect has the type of athleticism you look for in D1 athletes, all while competing at a trio of sports at a high level.
To start the offseason, Peterson participated in the GACA All-Star game in late December. He was a standout, picking off two interceptions where his long running gait, quick-space acceleration, and length ate the distance from the receiver to make a play on the football. Those kinds of defensive plays have carried into the camp circuit, where he recently competed in the MVP Camp at Effingham County last weekend. Again, Peterson stayed on the hip of receivers, flipping over, staying in phase, and showing good acceleration into consistent breakups.
On the recruiting front, Peterson gave a brief update on where he has visited and talked about a recent offer from this week.
“To start off my recruitment this offseason, I went to Georgia State University’s Elite Junior Day. I got the opportunity to meet with the coaching staff and learn about the goals of the upcoming season for the program. Also, I just recently picked up a scholarship offer from the University of Army West Point,” he said.
Peterson outlined upcoming visits to The Citadel, Mercer, Army, and Georgia Southern. The ladder program being his father’s alma mater, Adrian Peterson, where he starred at running back, winning multiple FCS national championships, and later playing 8 seasons in the NFL for the Bears.
While Aaden Peterson is not the offensive engine like his father, the athletic apple didn’t fall too far from the tree. His versatility and explosiveness are among the best in his class, and he is a true hidden gem.
This upcoming season, Peterson is set for a bigger load on the offensive side of the football. By how much, that will be interesting to see, but several key SE Bulloch offensive contributors are soon-to-graduate, so the offensive burden will fall onto his shoulders, all while being among the best special teams players in his classification and a lockdown cornerback.
“A couple of goals I have for next season are to make a run in the playoffs, earn first team all-state, and become one of the best ATH in the state of Georgia,” Peterson remarked.
There is a lot of meat left on the bone of the 2026 offseason before we are anywhere near August kickoff, and we believe that Peterson is the type of prospect whose recruitment could pop soon with more D1 offers joining Army. The upcoming evaluation period and camp season in May/June should pay dividends, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on Peterson and athletes across the state of Georgia.
