Nate Davis played an incredible game last week against North Cobb Christian, helping his team win 24-21. Trailing at the half 21-3, the Yellow Jackets rallied back and won 24-21, with the junior playmaker leading the way.
The Rockmart star player had 154 yards rushing and three touchdowns while on defense he totaled nine tackles, a forced fumble, and caught an interception. The forced fumble happened in the 4th quarter and led to Davis’ go-ahead 22-yard touchdown, giving Rockmart the 24-21 lead, one they never relinquished.
Tuesday was a great day for him. He was voted Player of the Week on the site and named the GHSF Daily Player of the Week. The accolades continue to stack up for the junior, and he seems excited about this school year.
“My junior year so far is going great; surprisingly it’s my easiest in school and football with all my brothers is awesome,” Davis said.
The 5’11” 190 lbs. put up quite the stat line against North Cobb Christian, he even made a key 4 and 1 stop to seal the game, but his impact expands beyond just one game. The Preseason All-State linebacker has stepped into the key RB/LB role left by Brent Washington, who is now at Georgia State and looks to be among the best two-way players in class 2A.
“I improved most on the field on the defensive side of the ball playing MLB. I worked hard during the summer with some of my guys, and I was always told hard work pays off,” Davis exclaimed.
Davis is one of the biggest hitters in the class of ’26. He is a heat-seeking missile on the field, closing the gap between him and the ball carrier and making explosive tackles. His effort level matches his mindset.
“My mind set on the field is kill, kill, kill; I wanna strive to be one of the greatest to ever do it,” Davis said.
At 5’11” and 190 lbs., Davis compensates for his undersized frame with an insane effort level that is truly unique on the field. He sprints across the field to make a tackle, utilizing every inch of his frame to down the ball carrier. Davis plays well with his eyes in pass coverage, reading the QB, and seems natural dropping back, and shows good instincts reading the route tree.
The junior’s recruiting process has just begun, but did mention that Georgia State has reached out. We can imagine that more G6 schools will make contact soon; his impact on the field and film pops, just like his tackling.
Rockmart is finishing the year strong with a 5-2 record and remains unbeaten in region play. Davis feels the team can push for a region title and return to the 2A state title.
“My goal for the last bit of the season is the win 1st in the region and not only go to the state championship game but come home with a win, so my brother won’t say I didn’t get a ring in high school,” Davis joked at the end.
Davis was extremely passionate about the Rockmart community and recognized his teammates, coaches, family, and momma for helping him become the person he is today. Then he finished the interview with a ‘Go Jackets!’
Davis is passionate, that is for sure, and whether you are 6’6″ or 5’8″, that kind of vigor is what every college football coach looks for in a prospect. We are certainly impressed with his college potential to go along with Rockmart’s postseason prospects (after all, we did pick them to win 2A in our Preseason Preview), so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest football coverage around the state.
Aaron for the win
