Monroe’s Jordan Washington has been a standout this season, throwing for 1311 passing yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing for 507 and five more scores. During Week 7, the senior signal-caller had his best game of the season in a 33-28 win over Dougherty.
Washington threw for 301 yards, three scores, and another 176 yards on the ground. With almost 500 yards of total offense, the standout senior was a top performer in the state, and a few days later was voted the Player of the Week on the site.
“My senior year is going good right now it started off rocky, but I see where it’s headed, just got to stay on top and stay consistent,” Washington said.
The Golden Tornados have played one of the toughest schedules in 3A, going up against top-rated Thomas Co. Central, Colquitt County, and Dothan, AL. They’ve experienced top-rated talent, but have utilized that experience with two consecutive wins in a row, and now look towards region play.
Washington’s stats through 6 games are impressive, especially when you account for the competition, and the film backs it up. For the 2nd part of the schedule, the senior has even bigger plans for Monroe.
“The goal for the second half of the season is to play for the regional championship, then the state championship. I believe in my team to get the job done; it’s only up from here,” Washington said.
He continued, “My mindset set on the field is to prove a point and put the state on notice that Monroe is here to compete not lay down.”
A state title would shock all of 3A, but this Monroe plays with zero fear, and that’s a great characteristic for any underdog. They will be battle-tested, and of course, senior dual-threat Jordan Washington creates so many opportunities.
At 6′ and 190 lbs., Washington is a smooth runner who can escape out of the pocket and finds open receivers on the run quickly. The senior has a snappy release, good velocity on his football, and is good at recognizing open receivers fast. Washington makes several tough passes down the sideline hitting the back shoulder of the receiver. As a runner, he has deceptive acceleration where gets around the edge and beats pursuit angles consistently.
He is a hidden gem among QBs in this recruiting class, so we asked the senior for his latest recruiting update.
“I currently only have one offer right now from the University of the Cumberlands but I have received some game day invites from SC State, Bluffton, UT-Martin, and UTEP,” Washington said.
For college visits, Washington still has not taken on yet but is optimistic for the future.
“I haven’t been on a college visit yet but I plan on going on some game day visit, but like y’all said, I’m a hidden gem, so I’m still tryna wake them up and make a name for myself.”
The QB position is stacked for the class of ’25 in Georgia. Good evaluators will search far and wide for real difference-makers for this coveted position, and we feel like Washington is worth your attention.
