Sophomore QB Traviian Miller has taken hold of the starting QB job this season for #2 Clinch County, and he doesn’t look to be letting go for the remainder of his career. The 6’2″ passer has thrown for 511 passing yards, 5 touchdowns, and 260 rushes with another 6 scores on the ground.
Miller’s hallmark game of the season came last week against Berrien, where his team won 48-43. The explosive sophomore accounted for 294 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, while also rushing for 109 yards and two more touchdowns on just nine carries. He was clutch down the stretch, leading his team on an 85-yard drive and completing an 18-yard touchdown pass with just 37 seconds left.
With over 400 yards on the night and the game-winning drive, Miller was named among the top performers on the site (plus several more publications), and was voted the Player of the Week on Wednesday evening.
“So far, my sophomore year has been great. My goals for the rest of the season are to have 1,000 passing yards and to end the season with a ring,” Miller said confidently.
After last week’s showdown against Berrien, Clinch is now 4-0 on the year, and consistently ranked among the top two teams in Class A DII. For this Friday, they will face off against Mitchell County, which should prove to be a tougher opponent than in recent years.
For Clinch, Miller provides an added dimension that Clinch has hardly seen at QB. Miller is long, with almost spider-like agility, capable of laterally side-stepping out of a tackle, then, with his long strides, he is off to the races. Miller’s passing has continued to develop each week, which has compounded his confidence to make big game-winning throws this early in his career.
As of now, Miller does not have any college visits planned just yet. After all, his varsity experience is limited, so college programs are just beginning to see his film.
“Unfortunately, I have not heard from any colleges so far, but it’s no stress because I know my time will come,” he said.
No doubt, we have high expectations for Miller and the impact he can make this season, plus beyond. His early film reminds us of Tobias Oliver, who helped Northside-Warner Robins to a state title as a sophomore back in 2014.
Could that play out once again? Clinch definitely appears to be a favorite, and the dynamic duality that Miller presents should yield great results (at the very least, more exciting games), so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia to hear more about Miller and athletes across the state of Georgia.
