Licquanta “Lockdown” Carter

A North Paulding class of 2020 cornerback who has been making waves this year has been Licquanta Carter. The athletic junior CB has made some pretty exciting plays so far, but on Week 9, he pulled off an interception that was easily one of toughest catches of the 2018 season.

Playing against rival North Cobb just a few weeks back now, the North Cobb QB threw a pass about 30-40 yards downfield on an obvious communication error where the receiver ran a much shorter route. The quick-thinking Carter flipped his hips, and zoomed up field tracking the pass, and made a beautiful over the shoulder basket catch with just one hand. It was an amazing one-handed catch, and definitely worthy of the #2 play in the state of Georgia for Week 9.

So what kind of season is Carter having? Well so far, he has right at 30 tackles on the year, 3 tackles for loss, and more importantly 2 interceptions with 12 passes deflected. He’s been lockdown this season, going against the best receiver on each team, and has caught the attention of several college programs.

Just last Saturday Carter visited Furman, he also visited App State and Jacksonville State earlier this year, as well. The 2020 cornerback is lightening quick, and attention to detail should continue to grab the attention of more D1 programs as we progress through the 2020 recruiting cycle (which is just getting started).

Carter also sports a 3.5 GPA, and is quicker than grease-lightening on the field with a reported shuttle time just under 4.0 seconds. He’s received numerous player of the week awards in Paulding County this fall, so point being, the 2020 student-athlete will be on colleges’ radars, so stay tuned to Recruit Georgia to hear the latest on Carter, and how his recruitment develops.
