Kennesaw Mountain’s Green New Deal

Kennesaw Mountain SR Dylan Green has been off to an exceptional start to his SR year. The Class 5A standout has 487 receiving yards, which ranks him 12th in the state, 7 touchdowns, and he is averaging a whopping 30 yards per catch on the year.

Another explosive touchdown occurred last week against New Manchester, where Green caught a post route down the middle of the field. What looked like a solid 25-yard reception quickly transgressed into a momentum-swinging play. Green threw the first defender off, cutting back against the grain, which broke the defender’s ankles, but there was still one remaining. The senior stuttered, threw a hesitation, and before you knew it, Green took another ankle and he was off to the races for a 69-yard touchdown.

This season is a whole new deal for Green. He played both ways as a junior, but last season’s film definitely leaned towards the defensive side of the football. And while he has 12 tackles, plus an interception on the season, Green is playing on another level on offense, which is garnering more attention.

“My senior year so far has been great playing both ways. For recruiting, I have an official visit to Kennesaw State in October,” Green said.

The senior has taken a jump in the last year. His route running looks crisp, and the 6’3″ athlete is more explosive coming out of his breaks, which is creating a lot of separation. On defense, Green continues to look sharp reading the QB’s eyes, which has translated to an interception along with a pass breakup.

“What separates me is my versatility, I would say. I feel like I can play corner, safety, nickel, wide receiver, all at the D1 level,” he said.

Kennesaw Mountain falls into the 2nd region game this upcoming week against Lithia Springs. While they have one win on the season, there are ample opportunities for the program to finish strong. For Green, each game is an opportunity to prove that he is among the best players in Cobb County.

“I want to win region athlete of the year as well as Cobb County athlete of the year, and first team all county on both sides of the ball,” Green said.

One could argue that Green is among the most versatile uncommitted seniors available in the class of ’26. His recruitment has traction, there is no doubt about it, and it wouldn’t surprise us one bit to see more D1 programs jumping into the picture.
