Jace German Laces Them Up

Tucker’s Jace German is having a great sophomore campaign helping his team to a 7-2 record with a shot of the region title this Friday against Marist. Of course, the promise to be region champs would for naught if it wasn’t for German’s last-second heroics on Friday against St. Pius.

With the game on the line, German dropped back and patiently surveyed the field. He rolled back to his right to buy more time but had a defensive lineman bearing down. With no time to spare, German uncorked a pass across the field, taking a big hit, but also delivering a great pass to his receiver for the go-ahead score.

Tucker won 28-26, and the program is experiencing their best season since 2018. The sensational sophomore QB has been nothing short of amazing for the Tigers, contributing to this resurgence.

“My sophomore season is going great! We are 7-2 with a contingent for first place in the region! We’ll be regional champs if we beat Marist, which is 1st in our region; we are currently 2nd,” he said.

Before the season, a page called @FL_GAsports talked positively about the 2027 prospect. While German is a newcomer to the varsity scene, playing his first year at Tucker, the page was confident, stating German was an impactful youth player prime for the big stage.

Those prognostications have been spot on so far, and German currently has thrown for  1411 passing yards and 20 touchdowns while also rushing for 449 yards and 6 more scores. Even more impressive is German’s efficiency with only two interceptions this season.

German talked about where he has improved the most recently.

“I’ve improved most on having awareness of situations, just understand the game more. Down and distance for example,” he said.

Greman is moving the chains, and also moving the interest of college scouts, at least at USF, who offered earlier this season. That was his first FBS so far.

“I went on an unofficial visit to South Florida. Since I’m a sophomore I can’t do too much,” he confirmed.

Very true, but if push comes to shove, colleges will make their interest known. Whether through a high school coach or whatever, we expect German’s college contact to continue to shoot up over the many weeks and months to come. He looks to be among the top dual threats we have seen in the class of ’27.

The sophomore’s explosiveness on the field, and impact to run or pass, create so many matchup issues. German’s intangibles and efficiency will be put to the test this Friday against 4A’s #1 team Marist. The War Eagles have not faced a QB with German’s passing prowess or athletic ability this season, so if he can continue to minimize turnovers, then an upset could be in order.

“My goal is to take my team to state and win it all,” German exclaimed.

The first major step starts this Friday, and the unparalleled level of competition will put the sophomore in the pressure cooker. How will he do? Can he take down the 4A’s top dog?
