Horsley Rides Away With Player of the Week

East Coweta once again tossed Lowndes a defeat to the tune of 42-30, and senior wide receiver Deshun Horsley played a huge factor. The senior had 216 yards receiving on just 5 receptions, scoring 4 times in the process.

That’s some insane efficiency and has helped the senior get countless recognition including Player of the Week here at Recruit Georgia.

“My senior year going good, right now, my stats are 476 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns,” Horsley said.

The senior talked about taking Lowndes once against, “I felt good after the win but I had to remember to stay humble and stay hungry.”

The 2023 wide receiver has excellent hands and does a good job of fighting through the coverage to make a play on the football. At 5’11” and 185 lbs., he plays bigger than his suggested listing and you routinely see him make contested catches where he is able to track the pass and use his body to shield the defender.

Interestingly, the senior feels like his biggest improvement has been the mental aspect of the game.

“The thing that improved most was my mindset over the year and I learned how to overcome adversity,” he said.

To start the year off, East Coweta is 5-0 and among the few unbeaten teams in 7A playing a tough schedule. Their senior standout at receiver has been impressive, ranking at near the top in the classification in yardage, and we really think colleges need to reevaluate the senior. The production and the type of plays he has made consistently in the first half of the season is noteworthy.

We suspect there will be more news in the future on Horsley, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on the East Coweta senior and athletes everywhere in the state of Georgia.
