Hillgrove senior quarterback Jabari Green has been a steady leader under center this fall. The offensive leader has found success, throwing for 932 yards, rushing for 300 yards, and leading his team to a 5-3 record.
Hillgrove notched another victory last Friday against Kennesaw Mountain, winning 48-7, and Green had the game of his career, throwing for 347 passing yards and 4 touchdowns. The performance was one of Week 9’s best, and on Tuesday night, he was voted the GHSA Player of the Week on the site.
“I feel like my senior season has been going pretty well,” Green said. “I feel like I’ve grown the most mentally. My hunger for the game and my determination to get recruited have brought out a whole different level of competitiveness in me.”
Green has made a lot of progress over the last year, and in 8 games through the 2026 season, he’s more than doubled last year’s varsity passing total. The growth extends beyond the field, where Green believes his leadership has matured.
“Knowing nothing is guaranteed, and every opportunity has to be earned, has pushed me to work harder, become a better leader, and compete at a higher level. I’ve developed a different mindset this year, playing with a chip on my shoulder and having something to prove every time I step on the field.”
Whether Hillgrove needs Green to throw the ball 30 times or just 5, the senior executes the game plan with excellent efficiency. In last week’s game against Kennesaw Mountain, he posted a 150 QBR and did a nice job of spreading the football around.
This Friday, Hillgrove, who is currently #2 in region play, faces off against North Atlanta, who is ranked #3. While PSR has created new playoff outcomes, there are still region championship implications, and a Harrison win against McEachern would create a three-way tie between each program.
Granted, we aren’t smart enough to know that will shake out, and Green seems more interested in the playoff picture, saying, “My biggest goal for the rest of the season is to finish strong, lead my team on a deep playoff run, and compete for a state championship.”
On the recruiting front, Green gave a quick update on where everything stands.
“As of now, I have visits scheduled to Morehouse College and Clark Atlanta. I also have a few schools interested in me, one being Georgia Southern University. I’m thankful to have schools showing interest, but I want more. I’m continuing to search for a school that will allow me to play ball at the next level.”
For a class of ’27 prospect, staying vigilant down the stretch is prudent. We constantly tell recruits who become weary of the process, especially as the final months loom, that you need to treat this like a job. For many recruits, this is your best shot to get recruited, and Green seems to be well aware of that, closing out our conversation with a final pitch.
“I’m a competitor that can make plays with my arm and legs. What sets me apart is my toughness, leadership, and competitiveness. I will always do what it takes to win. I’m not trying to get anything given to me; I just want an opportunity to compete and earn my spot. I know I can make an impact on a program; just give me the chance, and I will show you what I can do.”
Green’s recruitment is open and the 5’11” 175 lbs. senior passer has a 3.4 GPA. Be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on the senior and athletes across the state.
