Fishburne is the OL of the Week

Hiram’s Julian Fishburne has been blocking his tail off the last few weeks and has made consecutive appearances on our bully squad, highlighting some of the top blockers across the state. The impressive junior blocker has been excellent at getting to his assignment, and when he does, watch out, a huge pancake block is incoming.

Fishburne was voted the OL of the week after his dominating performance against Woodland-Cartersville last Friday. The powerful 6’2″ 300 lbs. lineman talked about his junior season.

“I would say that we aren’t really where we want to be as a team with our record, but after starting out 1-3 our coaching staff helped us to improve leading us to be 3-1 in the region. After overcoming injuries and setbacks we are looking forward to a big win against Allatoona this Friday,” Fishburne said.

The junior has adjusted to a position change this season, moving from the interior to offensive tackle, totaling 34 pancakes. That kind of adjustment allowed the 2026 athlete to develop new skills.

“Since moving from guard to tackle, pass protection was a challenge for me because of the transition in types of protection. Due to my offensive line coach’s help, I have become much more confident in my pass pro,” he said.

Like the salmon swimming upstream during their yearly migration, blocking comes naturally to Fishburne. He is physical with his hands, shows good pad level, and drives his legs through the defender. The junior explained more about his mindset while blocking.

“On the field, I keep my eyes set on God, which helps me stay disciplined. My focus is on completing my assignments to the best of my ability. This requires giving 100% on and off the field, and staying integral with my coaches and teammates.,” he said.

Hiram is 4-4 on the season, but has put together a strong showing with a 3-1 record in region. They have several important games up ahead with Allatoona and Cartersville on sequential Fridays. To our untrained playoff eyes, they appear to be a lock to make the playoffs.

“My goals to finish off this season are to help lead my team, in any way, to the furthest possible point.”

Having great offensive line play is imperative in the playoffs, and a cornerstone blocker like Fishburne can be a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the trenches. The final stretch should be one to monitor, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on the junior blocker and athletes all across the state.
