Favors’ Offseason Impact

A recruiting ‘event horizon’ approaches for Manchester junior CJ Favors. The spirited linebacker was one of the leaders for the Class A DII runner-ups in 2023. His 97 tackles led his team, which has several more FBS-caliber prospects, and that kind of production is bound to grab the attention of colleges.

“The recruitment is going ok. I don’t have any offers right now, but I have messaged and talked to a few coaches,” Favors said.

The 2025 linebacker is known for his fast style of play at linebacker but is learning to be patient with the recruiting process.

“I’m currently hearing from Kennesaw State, Columbia, and I have a Junior Day event coming up at Charleston Southern,” he said.

Favors is focused on sharpening his game while he waits for the colleges’ attention to pick up. The junior linebacker wants to continue to improve getting downhill against the run and improve his open-field tackling.

At around 6′ 205 lbs., Favors relies on his speed to attack the defense and get out the perimeter much faster than your average linebacker. Favors improved his pass coverage in his junior year, resulting in a few interceptions and break-ups.

Favors is a smart student-athlete with a good character and the type of person that college programs will fall in love with. In fact, the cover photo for this article is Favors reading to elementary school children just last week.

We suspect his recruitment will continue to pick up, after all, there have been some coaching changes at Manchester in the last few months. Either way, Favors recruitment is an eventuality, and we feel that once one D1 program offers, more will be on the way.
