The Screven County Gamecocks have a versatile anchor in the trenches in senior offensive lineman Ayden Allen. A three-year starter who can reliably play across the line of scrimmage, the 6’4″, 303-lb. prospect is playing his best football of his career right now.
Allen’s physical dominance helped Screven County to a 42-6 win over Claxton, and the big fella was even named Player of the Game, an honor you typically see for a lineman. Highlighting his great Week 5 performance, Allen earned a spot on the Bully Squad, where he was later voted OL of the Week.
“The start of my senior year has been amazing,” Allen said. “I came off an injury (knee), did a lot of therapy, and trained just so I can keep playing football. Now I’m back better than ever.”
Back and better indeed, Allen has been an absolute bulldozer as a run blocker this season. His wide frame and impressive energy at the point of attack have been winning battles upfront for the Gamecocks, helping the team to a 3-1 record. The senior is a true difference-maker.
That high-level production stems from an offseason where Allen slowed down on his training and focused on the minutia.
“I have improved the most from last season working on technique, coming off low and hard every play, and being the most physical upfront,” he noted.
For the remainder of the season, his focus remains entirely on the team’s success and setting the tone for the offense.
“My goals for the rest of my senior year are to keep the offensive line going as a unit and keep playing my best no matter the circumstances,” Allen explained. “My mindset on the field is to keep my running back and quarterback safe, communicate upfront, be physical, and don’t let up – play through all quarters with the same intensity.”
While Allen noted that he currently doesn’t have any college visits planned yet, a 6’4″, 303-pound lineman has established interior OL traits, being physical at the point of attack, a strong base, and wide shoulders. The big offensive lineman looks no worse for wear while recovering from his knee injury and even has a strong 3.4 GPA.
Tonight, Screven County faces off against McIntosh Co. Academy, which should be a great matchup as the Gamecocks sink their teeth into region play, looking to go 4-1.
