All The Way Harvison

TJ Harvison is a junior out of Villa Rica that has really impressed over the last few years. The imposing 6’2″ athlete plays both running back and some linebacker for his team.

He is always just a play away from making a momentum-swinging play, and just last week, he did exactly that. Catching a screen pass at midfield, Harvison had a group of defenders collapsing on him. Harvison hit the jets, and just like that, he split 4 defenders and then hit full stride into the open field and easily blew by the rest of the pursuit for a touchdown.

The play showcases the near-elite athleticism that the 2023 two-way players shows, and rightfully earned the top play of the week here in Georgia. What stands out right away is the improvement of Harvison’s open-field speed in his junior film compared to his sophomore year.

“I feel that I have improved on my speed, my yards after contact and definitely being in shape for both sides of the ball,” Harvison said.

Harvison’s explosive plays have not gone unnoticed either, and the athlete who models his game after Derrick Henry at RB and Isaiah Simmons on defense has taken recent visits to Memphis and Georgia.

The dynamic junior also has an offer from Kentucky, which came at the start of the year, but we figure that Harvison will be the type of recruit that will accrue well over double-digit offers before it is all said and done.

Currently, Harvison doesn’t have any more visits planned for the season yet. He is mostly focused on the season at hand and getting Villa Rica back into the postseason after a 5-year hiatus.

“I want to finish the season region champs and host a playoff game,” Harvison said

Villa Rica is on a three-game winning streak right now, and a very winnable game against North Springs coming up this Friday. From our perspective, they are in great shape to win the region, but all just conjecture on our part.

Seeing the junior take more visits this fall wouldn’t be a complete surprise either. At 6’2″ and 200 lbs., it’s just not normal to see an athlete like Harvison move with his type of speed. On both sides of the football, he has a huge impact with explosive plays. We like his RB film, but truthfully, his closing speed at linebacker in combination with the physicality in how he tackles should have P5 programs clamoring at his upside.

It’s clear that Harvison will be a recruit to watch. It will only be a matter of time before the 2023 recruit is tagging our page with new offers, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter to see his latest recruiting activity and the rest of the athletes across the Peach State.
