Peachtree Ridge’s Braxton Palmer was a breakout player during his sophomore season. The positive momentum didn’t stop either; throughout the offseason, Palmer earned offers from FBS programs from programs across the country.
“The schools I’m hearing from at the moment are Minnesota, Duke, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Liberty, App State, Florida State, Georgia Southern, UNC Charlotte, Univ. of Buffalo, Troy and Rice. I plan to visit Minnesota, Duke, Virginia Tech along with a few more schools,” Palmer said.
The junior receiver has excellent speed and body control, which was no better on display than in Week 1, where Palmer caught a short hitch down the sideline, bounced off two Lambert defenders, then sprinted away to complete the 63-yard touchdown. The play earned him a spot in the top 10 plays of the week, and he was later voted the #3 in the state of Georgia.
Palmer had 173 yards receiving on the night and three touchdowns. Then last week against several D1-caliber DBs at Shiloh, he managed 50 yards on five receptions, giving him almost 50% of the total aerial production on the night.
The junior has made some nice progress over the last year both at a technical and physical level.
“I have improved a lot on my route running, getting faster and being more explosive,” he said.
With over 200 yards receiving to start the season, Palmer is off to a great start.
“I would describe the start of my Junior year as great, with lots of room to improve. The team is now 2-0, and we have a lot of confidence. I believe I play a role in our level of confidence and the energy we have each game,” he said.
Palmer would like to hit 1000 yards receiving on the season, win a region title, and said a state championship is within reach. No doubt, the speedy 2028 receiver plays with a lot of confidence, which is an integral mindset needed for a receiver.
