Sophomore Jones is Shining

Heading into the season, Lincoln County sophomore Aiden Jones was a prospect to watch. The sophomore had a great offseason, the Lincoln County staff was excited about him, and it really looked like this was going to be a breakout year.

So far, Jones has 11 tackles, 1 sack, and 3 touchdowns on offense. In Week 9, against Washington-Wilkes, the 2028 playmaker had one of the best runs of the season so far. He took a handoff, sweeping off tackle and down the left sideline. He followed his blocks well until the safety, the last line of defense, attempted to stop him cold in his tracks. But Jones was not to be denied, and stiff-armed the defensive back, riding him downfield until he firmly planted him into the ground. His explosiveness was on full display. Jones finished off the 50-yard touchdown run, going the final 10 into the endzone unabated.

The play was voted the #2 play of the week, and for Jones, it is a glimpse at the potential playmaking Lincoln County will see down the road.

“I’d say this season is going pretty smoothly. I’m seeing my versatility more and capitalizing while on the field, offense or defense,” Jones said.

Lincoln County is the #1-ranked team in our polls, and they have a strong group of experienced seniors to carry the load, so Jones is certainly making the most of his opportunities. He is just staying focused and looking to make an impact.

“My goals to finish off the season are to continue locking down the opposing offense while on defense and making the best of every play on both sides of the ball,” he said.

Jones said that recruiting has been mostly light for now. He doesn’t hold any offers yet, has taken a few gameday visits, and is open to more opportunities in the future. For now, there doesn’t seem to be much of a rush. Jones knows his role, and at Lincoln County, he will have every opportunity to grow into a leader in the coming seasons.

“What separates me from others in my recruiting class is my work ethic, determination, and versatility. I love being the playmaker, but I also love sticking my blocks on offense and locking down on defense so my teammates can also do their jobs,” Jones said.

Some athletes just have that ‘it’ factor, and the Lincoln County sophomore has it. At 6′ and 190 lbs., Jones has the frame and athleticism that should have FBS programs’ full attention, but they will need to parse through his film, where his usage should be held into account. Lincoln County was our state champion pick at the start of the season, and so far, they look well on the way, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia to hear more about the Devils, their sophomore standout, Aiden Jones, and athletes across the state of Georgia.
