Parker Elevates Locust Grove

Locust Grove is 6-1 on the year and is having their best season since 2015. Back then, our website had just launched, and senior QB Armond Parker was not even 10 years old yet. Since then, the program has experienced lean years, but last season they went 5-5, and in 2025, they are 6-1, sitting in the driver’s seat to win the school’s first-ever region championship. Parker has been a major reason why.

“My senior season has been all about leadership, confidence, and execution. We’re 6-1 so far and I’ve thrown for 1678 yards and 18 touchdowns, while adding 348 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns,” Parker said.

Last week, Parker threw for 502 yards and 6 touchdowns in a win a 40-0 win over Woodland-Stockbridge. The senior passer was a top performer in the state of Georgia and was voted Player of the Week on the website.

After just missing the playoffs a year ago, the program is flying high at the moment, and Parker’s ability to control the game with his arm has led to key wins over programs like Ola and Hampton, while also going toe-to-toe with another 4A power in Stockbridge. This kind of production is nothing new. Last season, Parker was just short of 2400 yards and 26 touchdowns, but the senior has made marked improvements with his efficiency.

“I feel like the game has really slowed down for me; I’m seeing the field clearly, making smart decisions, and doing whatever it takes to help my team win. My focus now is on finishing strong and leading Locust Grove on a great postseason run,” he said.

Parker has a live arm, capable of getting vertical with his throws and stretching the field while also tucking and rushing upfield. The dual-threat nature of his game, along with his ability to hit receivers 30-40-50 yards downfield, and in stride, makes the senior a big-play waiting to happen.

“I feel what separates me from others in my recruiting class is my ability to make plays both on script and off script. I can operate efficiently from the pocket, but if a play breaks down, I have the awareness and athleticism to extend plays and create with my legs when needed,” Parker said.

Parker plays with good fundamentals, climbing the pocket as he surveys the field, always identifying the open receiver. He does a good job of going through his progressions, making defenses pay for poor assignments and creating explosive plays with his arm.

The senior gives a lot of credit to his offensive coordinator and the work they have done.

“My offensive coordinator, Coach Bruce Eugene, one of the top college quarterbacks of all time, has helped me see the game from a higher level. Being coached by someone who has played the game at an elite level gives me a real advantage. I’m confident that I’m prepared to step on any college campus and compete from day one,” he said.

On the recruiting front, Parker said he is hearing from a few programs and just wants to find the ideal program for him to thrive.

“As far as recruiting, I’ve received a couple of offers and have been on a few visits this season, with more scheduled in the coming weeks. Right now I’m focused on finding the right fit, a school that believes in me and feels right both on and off the field.”

Locust Grove’s great season continues this Friday against McDonough at 7:30, where it seems like Parker could be in store for another big offensive output. The following week, they rest with a BYE, then Union Grove on the 24th, followed by the true headliner, a Halloween night showdown against Jones County that could decide the region championship. That game is three weeks away, so patience will be key, much like the SR QBs’ recruitment at the moment, so be sure to follow @RecruitGeorgia on Twitter/X to hear the latest on recruits across the state of Georgia and more.
